We're a cooperative of creative data nerds. We get a kick out of the enthusiasm of clients that experience the opportunities and possibilities of their data and the value it adds to their business.

That's why we work as a BI partner, always on a project basis, for organisations that have an outright ambition to operate as a data-driven business. We chart the strategy, design the architecture and complete the project as a team.

1. What kind of work do you do?

We are a strategic BI partner for a range of companies: from mature scale-ups to some multinationals that have far-reaching ambitions for data-driven management of their organisation. We do a lot of project work to upgrade those companies from an Excel culture to a Self-Service BI environment and to facilitate predictive analytics with ML and AI.

The larger part of our work consists of building customised BI solutions from beginning to end. We also focus on the maintenance and continued development of BI environments. Finally, we provide in-house BI training to Finance & BI teams and to C level.

2. Do you deal with project work or outsourcing? 

We are fully focused on project work for the simple reason that we like it better. Lots of variety, awesome jobs, working with our team, being involved from beginning to end, the opportunity to provide input & ideas and to achieve value for the client quickly. Project work makes us happy!

Around 90% of our work is project work. If we do outsourcing work it will be for a job where we can really make a difference. But...we’ll do it our way: as a team. We don’t provide one ‘muppet’ to the client, we complete the job with a range of people. Teamwork in other words.

Good to know: outsourcing really is a choice and it's not compulsory. You decide whether you want to do it or not.

3. What does it mean to work within a cooperative? 

It may sound a little twee, but we believe in the notion that sharing = multiplying.

You don't have to be an entrepreneur to share in the All Your BI pie. That's why we're a cooperative. In summary: sharing in the profit and input into the strategy.

Besides the fact that we believe that sharing is only fair, being a cooperative has lots of benefit for the culture of All Your BI:

  • It really produces close cooperation: focusing together on our shared aims and objectives.
  • It encourages entrepreneurship: you can initiate projects, take responsibility and speak your mind about our strategy.
  • Being a member of a cooperative produces a whole new level of commitment. It's a much better way to work, we can tell you that from our own experience.
4. Which Stack do you use? 

We focus on Microsoft Azure Stack, but we're not wedded to it: we will work with the tool that serves the aims and the client in the best possible way. Right now we find Microsoft Stack to be the best, but we're always curious about what else is out there.

Experience with Microsoft Stack is not required by the way. If you're good at another stack, you’ll master this one too!

5. How do you deal with new tools and techniques? 

We love to investigate and try out new tools & techniques. For example building internally on Proof of Concepts and implementing new technology with clients when that is the best way to help the client on his way. We're not wedded to any particular tool kit.

We're also building on a Discord BI community: The Smart Table. Where BI professionals - inside and outside All Your BI - share practice and demos to learn from each other.

6. What does your cooperation look like? 

We don't like islands - unless it's for a team outing: boat, sunshine, drink - and we think that life is all about sharing knowledge & interchange between all our colleagues. That applies to projects for clients and to our own internal projects.

For every project we compose a team, consisting of a mix of BI developers, BI consultants and/or data scientists. After every sprint we evaluate which skills and experience are required for the next team and amend the team accordingly. Depending on the size of the project, you will be working on 2 or 3 projects at the same time.

Every quarter, we also work on our organisation's aims and objectives. We set up project teams with colleagues from the entire organisation. In the end, you work with every member of the club.

7. What is your working method for projects? 

We apply the agile philosophy with the scrum method. For every project we set up a team with the expertise that is needed at that time; the team composition may change in function of the sprint. Every project has a Product Owner and a Lead Developer. Both those roles come from All Your BI. The Product Owner is the dedicated contact person for our client. The Lead Developer has final responsibility for all the technical choices in a project.

8. Why does it say Power BI all over your website? 

For our clients, the dashboard in Power BI is often the end product or, more to the point, it is the part they see. That's the reason why front of house, the website, talks a lot about Power BI. That doesn’t mean to say we spend all day dashboarding. Far from it, that’s only the tip of the iceberg

9. How would you describe the culture of All Your BI? 

We could write a whole blog about that - and we will one of these days - but by the time you've got this far, you simply want to know what really happens on our work floor. Not bullshit bingo, no marketing spiel, just the nuts and bolts.

A company culture goes beyond a few words, or a manifesto, that dazzle you from the wall. It's not a list of all the awesome team outings either. A company culture is alive, we work on it together and talk about it together. So, here's an attempt to find some suitable words.

We're a club for creative data nerds. Or, to put it differently, we’re a happy place for nerds 😉 A place with the right balance between creativity - as in building new things -, real results for the client and being part of a club. The latter means we like to work together, we like to play together, whether that's gaming or going to a party.

We’re all eager and entrepreneurial: in our mentality, the way we work together and in our approach of our clients. We are ambitious in our growth plans for All Your BI and aim to conquer the world together. We also want to hold on to that club feeling, with short lines, and as little ‘politics’ as possible. We put lots of effort into that, because it matters: our club feeling is sacred.

We manage actively on happy@All Your BI: in 1-to1 conversations we gauge where you're at, we check that everyone is happy and we celebrate our successes together.

The atmosphere is completely informal, we like a joke, we dare to speak our minds and nobody will ever lose face. To quote our colleague Jesse: “We're totally different in terms of personality. We're all a bit of a nerd of course...but we're different types of nerds.”

We describe our company culture as a mix of adhocracy & clan culture. In the first company culture, innovation, creativity and flexibility play a major role. There is a clear vision of the future that we work towards in a targeted manner. As employee you are challenged continuously to develop yourself.

In a clan culture, the relationships between people take centre stage: between the employees themselves and between us and the client. Teamwork is extremely important and everyone feels involved with the organisation. Managers see themselves more as mentors who support the employees in their work & their development.

10. How do you deal with remote working? 

You work in the way that is best suited to you and the work you've got to do. Want to work at our clubhouse in Rotterdam? No worries: our office provides spaces for working together and comfortable workstations for focused work on your own. Prefer to work remotely? Fine!

We don't oblige you to work in a specific place. Just to give you an idea: on average our team works 3 to 4 days remote and 1 to 2 days in the office. We do like to spend time together by the way, live (for drinks, team sessions and outings) and remote (game evening!).
